Sergio Sanchez has spent 25 years fighting for South Texas. Now he’s ready to fight for it in Austin.
Meet Sergio Sanchez
Sergio Sanchez was born on the Fourth of July in Edinburg and has spent his life serving South Texas. A former prosecutor who has tried thousands of cases against violent criminals and cartel traffickers, Sergio now runs his own law firm in McAllen. He’s also a father of four, a longtime youth soccer coach, and a community leader who has led organizations like the Boys and Girls Club and CASA. In Austin, he’ll bring that same grit and commitment to defending families, cutting taxes, and protecting the values that make South Texas strong.
Sergio Sanchez was born on the Fourth of July at Edinburg Hospital and has called South Texas home his entire life. The son of a Vietnam veteran and a math teacher, Sergio grew up learning the value of hard work, family, and faith. He worked his way through school as an electrician, landscaper, and tutor for the Pharr Independent School District before graduating from UT–Pan American and earning his law degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
For more than two decades, Sergio has served South Texas in the courtroom as a prosecutor in Hidalgo County, where he tried everything from DWIs to capital murder, and now as the owner of Sanchez Law in McAllen. He has prosecuted thousands of cases, stood face-to-face with cartel traffickers, and defended families seeking justice in some of the toughest circumstances
Outside the courtroom, Sergio has been a leader in the community. He served as President of the McAllen Boys and Girls Club, was a board member for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Hidalgo County, and spent 15 years coaching youth soccer, the role he calls “the best years of my life.” A taxpayer, business owner, and proud father of four children in the McAllen Independent School District, Sergio has lived and worked in District 41 for more than 25 years.
Through every role, Sergio’s commitment has been the same: to serve his neighbors, defend his community, and fight for the values that make South Texas strong.
Putting South Texas First!
South Texas deserves more than empty promises from Austin, it deserves leadership with grit, conviction, and real experience. For years, I’ve worked in our courts as a prosecutor and attorney, standing up for justice and protecting our communities. I’ve seen firsthand the cost when government fails to secure the border, keep criminals off the streets, or respect the values that hold our families together.
I’m running for the Texas House to put South Texas First. South Texas needs a representative who understands what’s at stake, who has lived it, and who will never back down. From border security and safe neighborhoods to lowering property taxes and improving our schools, I will fight every day to make sure our communities are respected, and our future is secure.
I’ve stood face-to-face with cartel traffickers in court. For me, border security isn’t theory — it’s survival.
